I really 'Shruted' it...

Jim - Question: What bear is best?
Dwight - That's a ridiculous question...
Jim - False. Black bear.
Dwight - That'd debatable. There are basically two schools of thought...
Jim - Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears. Beats. Battlestar Galactica.

I know now why you cry...but it is something i can never do...

Film number three in my project is 1991's most robot shooting people in the knees packed movie Terminator 2 starring Arnie Schwarzenheimer. I've gone for a messy style and a limited pallete for this as it is befitting of the tone 'o the film. Also befitting the tone of the film, robots from the future will travel back to kill me and prevent me from finishing my degree (PSYCHE, robots love me and want to see me do well in all my endeavors ).

For a moment there I thought we were in trouble....

Now my Ghostbusters comic is finished I've moved onto the next piece in my project; Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Here are the two prep sketches I did, computerjiggered into a movie poster style picture. I'd have liked a nice tattered paper effect on it to make it look like a proper wild west cliche but I'm not sure how to do that.

Oh well....Raindrops keep fallin' on my head.....

Busting makes me feel good.

This is something thats been wafting around in my brain box for a long time. Its the first piece I've done for my final year at college and I think its turned out really well, I'd go as far as to say its my best piece of work....And now that I've finished patting myself on the back...back to work. No rest for the wikkkid.

The Rehab Club...

These are characters I designed for "FREEK" an indie club night at Swindon's Rehab club in Old Town. I really enjoyed doing these, they came out really well and I gave my colouring and shadowing muscles (yes they're actual muscles, look it up) a workout. Oh and yeah that is the Breakfast Club poster. Those guys only met each other once, but it changed their lives forever...

FREEK OUT!

Actual memories of exciting things...

This is a two page story I drew for a contest in the Observer newspaper. It's a tale of seven year old James and the first time he got into trouble at school. And how it scarred him. Scarred him DEEP...

So I wanted to post something new everyday for 26 days but I've not finished this yet...So apologies to the four people that look at my blog but tomorrow's picture will be the finished Clown Prince Of Crime (tm). And if its not, I'll jam a pencil into my eye socket. For reals.

Zack & Miri Make A Porno...

The new film by Kevin Smith, which I loved and, like all movies that involve poop on faces, left me with a warm fuzzy feeling as I left the cinema.

PC Bob.

This is a comic strip for the "Bobby Club", a newsletter given out to school children by the Police to inform them about staying safe and to increase their brain power through the miracle of word searches. The power of this story has already been proven when my mum told me that she became quite upset when Bob the dog realizes he's lost... Powerful, powerful stuff.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaans!!!!

I wanted this to be professional, efficient, adult, co operative.
Not a lot to ask.
Alas, your Mr. Takagi did not see it that way so he won't be joining us for the rest of his life.

...In a row?

I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith, as a film maker and maybe more as a speaker. His "Evening with..." dvds and Smodcast, the podcast he does every week with Scott Mosier are funny as hell and I listen to them a lot while I'm working. So why not draw the James-way and download some for yourself? Its Dr. Stayte approved!

Mother Puss Bucket...

The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. From out of Ghostbusters. This is a sketch I did in preparation for my final year project, which is a collection of moments from my favorite films, re-interpreted as tiny delicious portions of sequential illustration. Coloured way too quickly, plus he's stepping on a metal trash can and not crushing it, which is highly inaccurate. Sorry about that.

'Now We Are Running' part one...

So this is a comic I drew over the last couple of weeks. Probably the hardest working (I say working, I mean DRAWING) month of my life! Its a comic based around a recorded conversation featuring me (the clean shaven, yet gremlin-looking one) and my friends Jordan, Ryan, Hayley and Nikki. It came out really well and I'm pretty proud of it so I hope you enjoy reading it!

Starbuck with markers...

Just getting used to using Letraset markers...
By the way, I'm aware that her head is way too big for her body...

Tonight I dine on turtle soup...

When I was younger, and Teenage Mutant Ninja/Hero Turtles was the big thing, I would make Michelangelo's nunchuckers out of two toilet roll tubes held together by a piece of wool. Years later I would teach a young Chinese martial artist how to control this deadly weapon using the same cardboard bog-roll tubing. That man went on to become Bruce Lee. True Story.
(also) COWABUNGA!!!

Amy.

Amy, one of the main characters from the graphic novel I'm (slowly) putting together, 'Glow in the Dark'. Not the final design, just something to practise my figure work...

Come with me if you want to live...

A quick sketch I did to get used to using letraset markers, also because Arnold Schwarzenegger is the F-ing king.

Juno...

One of the best films I've seen in a long time. Amazing cast, funny trailer, quirky comedies are my favorite of all the motion pictures.
I did this because I was starting to feel burnt out by college work. I wanted to just draw something dumb n' fun y'know?

Check out the original poster: http://www.impawards.com/2007/juno_ver2.html
