I'm currently teaching classes in comic book art and illustration for the ICIA at Bath University. Its a new experience for me but pretty exciting. If I'm going to yakyakyak about anything in front of people it might as well be comics and drawings and that. So far my lectures have gone well, a little dry mouth and the odd brain fart but nothing too bad. Although I seem to be unintentionally channelling Alan Partridge, which IS a worry.
As a quick first lesson exercise I got my students to look at the
"American Elf" diary comics of James Kochalka and see if they could take a tiny moment from their recent lives and turn it into a journal comic. Above are the two example I did, recent moments from the hectic roller coaster ride I call JAMES.
